Compliance & FMCSA Status

How VeloraPayco's automated driver log generation aligns with the FMCSA Electronic Logging Device (ELD) rule and Hours-of-Service regulations under 49 CFR Part 395.

How automated log generation works

When dispatch assigns a load to a driver and vehicle, VeloraPayco generates the duty-status timeline from engine events, GPS, and the assignment itself. The driver always retains the right to review, annotate, edit, and certify — every regulation below assumes the driver remains the legal record-holder.

Driver Record of Duty Status (RODS)

49 CFR §395.8

Supported

Duty status changes (Off Duty, Sleeper Berth, Driving, On-Duty Not Driving) are recorded with timestamp, location, vehicle, and odometer. Logs are generated automatically from dispatch assignments and engine events.

Driver edits, annotations & certification

49 CFR §395.30

Supported

Drivers review every auto-generated log, may propose edits with required annotations, and must certify the day's record. Original entries are preserved alongside any edits — never overwritten.

Tamper-evident audit trail

49 CFR §395.26 / §395.30(c)

Supported

Every event is immutable. Edits create new versions linked to the original record, with the editor's identity, timestamp, and reason captured.

Roadside DOT inspection mode

49 CFR §395.22(h) / §395.24

Supported

Driver-facing inspection view displays the prior 7 + current day, with web-services and email transfer options for officers.

Malfunction & data diagnostic handling

49 CFR §395.34

Supported

Diagnostic and malfunction codes are surfaced to the driver and back office, with paper log fallback guidance during outages.

Data retention

49 CFR §395.22(i) / §395.8(k)

Supported

RODS, supporting documents, and unidentified driving records are retained for a minimum of six months in encrypted storage.

FMCSA ELD registration

49 CFR §395.22(a)

In progress

Self-certification and listing on the FMCSA Registered ELD list is in progress. Until listing is complete, customers should treat the system as a fleet management aid and continue using a registered ELD of record for HOS compliance.
